One Room Challenge: Week 2 & 3

Welcome back to week 3 of the One Room challenge hosted by Calling it Home. It's been a tough week this week because I was very indecisive about a lot of the original plans I had. That doesn't come as a surprise to me because INDECISIVE is my middle name lol. So this is where we are now I decided to leave the moldings white instead of painting everything the same color, I also decided not to do the picture frame molding because it honestly would have been very time consuming and I have a lot going on int he next couple of weeks. I still have hope that picture frame molding or wainscoting will make an appearance somewhere in my home in the near future. Not to mention as if you haven't noticed I decided to go with Restless Sea by Behr instead of black and I absolutely love it. I love more than I initially thought I would because I was afraid it would look like a toddlers room color but I'm so glad it doesn't.

Now that the color is up and almost finish I still have that one last wall to paint, but I'm excited to start the really fun stuff... DECORATING. I have been on the hunt for a few key pieces for this space and I think I found what might be the most important piece which is the mirror. I came across it on Birch Lane and I can't wait to order it and think it will look great at the end of the hall and it's in my favorite accent color (gold if you didn't know now you know) lol. Navy and gold are one of my favorite color combinations.
One of the projects I'm looking forward to the most is also a piece of art work I will be creating myself to add a bit of personal touch which i believe every space no matter the space needs. Something personal to make it feel like home. Well that's it for this week hope you all are as excited as I am to see it come together. Don't forget to head on over to Calling it Home and check out the rest of the amazing spaces see you guys here next week.

One room Challenge : Week One

Hello everyone it's week one of the One Room Challenge. About two months ago I was at home just relaxing and decided to walk over to my home depot and buy some paint to start on the hallway transformation. I purchased a gallon of Ultra Pure White by Behr in a semi-gloss finish. I chose semi-gloss because my hallway gets a lot of traffic and it is an easy finish to clean right up. I thought i wanted white walls in my hallway because i thought it would better once I hung the art up but of course after it was painted and up for a while I decided I didn't really like it. It is too boring for me and if you know me you know I prefer some kind of color. Now I'm here back at square one and what better time than the spring 2017 season of the One Room Challenge to kick start the process. Today I'm sharing with you guys the design plan.

I love the trim work on the walls it makes the walls feel grand and elegant which is what I'm going for. I want my hallway to stand out and make a statement. I'm also going for a dark moody wall most likely black or a really dark grey. I'm also loving navy blue (as you can see paint color is the dilemma right now). On the wall at the end of the hallway I want to put a big floor mirror or a big piece of art (if I could live in an art gallery I would). I haven't found anything I like as of yet so I'm still on the hunt. I'm very excited to take you guys along with me on this journey, and I can't wait to see the end result. Don't forget to check out the the other amazing spaces over at Calling it Home

Current Trend: Navy Blue

Often times the color navy blue is considered to be a nautical color or easily associated with water front homes but in fact navy blue can be a very elegant color. Bold and moody and can easily pair with many colors for different styles. I like to sometimes use it in it's darkest form as a substitute for black. It surprises me how much i love this color now because if you were to ask me  years ago about this color I would steer clear of it by all means. It's grown on me and maybe it will grow on you too if you aren't already in love with it.
